OK, I can hardly get my head around this. In a country where citizens will gladly accept vodka in lieu of actual payment for things - even salary - people have started to cut back on their vodka consumption due to the worsening economy. I mean, whoa. Whhhhhhooooooh.
This is the same people that in the 90's traded their sworn enemies, the Chechen rebels, a fully functioning Russian tank for a few cases of vodka. This is the same people whose actual word for water is "vodka."
The Russian economy has not fared well during this economic blizzard. Their stock markets have lost 70% of their value. Layoffs, wage cuts, and a huge spike in the production of black-market vodka.
My heart goes out to those people. I've got a bottle of Skyy in my freezer if any Russian out there wants it. First one to put mailing info in comment section gets it. Of course, chances of it getting through the mail opening brigade are zero to none.
