Have you ever looked at your glass of 100% pure agave super premium sippin' tequila and thought to yourself, "Now this stuff is the nectar of the gods. This stuff is just really fucking brilliant. I love this stuff! I wonder if you could make this into, like, diamonds or some shit."
Well apparently some wacky scientist down in Mexico had that exact thought and once he got going, there was no stopping him.
"First of all we turn the liquid tequila into vapour by using a lot of heat. The gas molecules are then broken up into tiny particles. Then we increase the heat even further - to around 800 degrees celsius."
"The end result is that we get carbon atoms which are then deposited in the shape of a very thin diamond film," he added.
Don't get too excited ladies. So far you can only make them big enough to be visible under an electron microscope. But anyone who buys electronics could potentially get very excited because you can make them pretty cheap (from a cheap barely drinkable bottle of tequila) and companies can use them in computer chips to replace silicon. Which means that your fiber optic wallpaper and Best Buy Gift Card Speakers could be cheaper. Hooray!
This calls for a toast.
